Academy Award®-nominated French animation studio Xilam Animation is partnering with Alibaba Group’s video streaming platform, Youku, to co-produce its new 2D and 3D animated preschool series Lupin’s Tales (78×7’), which is set to launch in 2021. To support the series, Xilam and Youku will also collaborate to develop a range of merchandise for the Chinese market, with an initial focus on educational products.

Cartoon Forum has successfully closed its 31st edition, which was held exclusively online due to the coronavirus pandemic. With a line-up of 80 animated series projects from 22 European countries, the projects were presented as pre-recorded presentations.

Cartoon put out the list of projects that attracted the most interest, based on the number of views of each presentation on the digital platform between 15 September and 15 October.

Netflix has picked up exclusive rights to Xilam Animation’s new CG-animated comedy Trico, which will debut in early 2022.

Hugo Gittard (Zig & Sharko, Magoo) created the non-verbal series about a retired globetrotting sheep who disrupts a peaceful mountain pasture and has to work with a friend to defend the other sheep from a sneaky wolf.

Nickelodeon Doubles Up with Xilam Animation Comedies

Nickelodeon UK & Ireland will premiere Mr Magoo, the hilarious new animated slapstick comedy series produced by Xilam Animation, based on the hugely successful classic cartoon of the same name, on Monday 6th July 2020 at 12:00pm on Nicktoons UK & Ireland! Following launch, Mr Magoo will air twice a day, at 12:00pm and 4:30pm on Nicktoons.
